NDSU STOPS WOLVES WINNING STREAK AT TWO GAMES

May 3, 2001

North Dakota State University proved too strong for Northern State University as they downed NSU twice, 21-3 and 13-5, to stop the Wolves' winning streak at two games. In game one, NDSU lit up the Wolves for 21 runs on 19 hits while the Wolves were only able to muster five hits and three runs. Jimmy May was 1-for-3 with a run scored and an RBI while Ethan Scoblic (Big Stone City, N.D.) was 1-for-1 as a pinch hitter and scored a run.

In game number two NSU fared a little better, but the result was the same. Adam Chapman led NSU at the plate with two hits in four at-bats and had an RBI and scored a run. Steve Rixen (Mott, N.D.) was 1-for-2 with a run scored to help the Wolves offensively. Shawn Young (St. Paul, Minn.) held the Bison to two runs in two innings of work in relief and Nate Krier (Mitchell, S.D.) held the Bison scoreless in one inning of relief work.

The losses dropped the Wolves season record to 7-27 as they head into the final two weeks of the season. The Wolves are scheduled to play doubleheaders against Concordia University-St. Paul Friday, May 4 and then host Winona State University on Saturday, May 5. Friday's games are scheduled to start at 1:30 pm and the games are scheduled to start at noon on Saturday.
