NSU EARNS ROAD SPLIT WITH MINNESOTA, MORRIS

Morris, MN - The Northern State University baseball team earned a non-conference road split with the University of Minnesota-Morris on a frigid Wednesday afternoon in west central Minnesota. The Wolves fell 11-10 before knocking off the Cougars 5-4 in a five-inning contest.

Minnesota-Morris used a six-run fifth inning to propel the Cougars to an 11-10 vicotory over Northern State. The Wolves held a 7-5 advantage heading into the fifth but Morris put up just enough runs to stave off an NSU two-run rally in the seventh to hold on. NSU's Deacon Burns (2-4), Jay Duehring (2-3) and Steve Rixen (2-4) each posted two-hit games for the Wolves. Burns added three runs scored and two RBIs to go with his fourth home run of the season.

NSU bounced back from its game one loss to upend the Cougars in a scheduled five-inning affair. The Wolves jumped on top of UMM 4-0 after two inings and scored the winning run in the top of the fifth. Ben Cupp went 3-for-3 in the game with a double and a run scored while Jay Duehring posted a 2-for-2 mark with an RBI and a stolen base.
