WARRIORS TAKE TWO FROM WOLVES IN FRIDAY'S TWINBILL

Aberdeen, S.D. - The Winona State Warriors held Northern State to just eight hits in two games as they swept the Wolves 11-0 and 7-2 at Fossum Field on Friday. Following are brief recaps of each game of Friday's doubleheader:

Winona State started its four-game series with the Wolves on the right foot getting off to a 6-0 lead after three innings. NSU then shut down the Warriors for the next three frames but were unable to get on the scoreboard themselves as WSU tacked on five runs in the top of the seventh to complete the 11-0 shutout. NSU's Jay Duehring paced Wolves hitters going 2-for-3 in the game as NSU was only able to punch through four hits in the game. Winona State's Josh Schultz earned his third complete game shutout of the season going 7.0 innings and striking out two while allowing just four hits.

Winona State broke open a 2-2 game in the top of the third as the Warriors manufactured three runs to take the 5-2 lead. WSU would add two more and hold the Wolves off the scoreboard to hold on for their second victory of the day, 7-2. NSU's Ben Cupp posted his eighth home run of the season on a two-run shot that scored Wes Fisbeck in the second inning.
