Wolves Win Split With Beavers in Last Double Header of the Year

ABERDEEN, S.D. - The Wolves split a two game double header with the Beavers of Bemedji State Sunday afternoon loosing the first game 4-8 but coming back strong in game two winning 7-5.

Bemidji got of to a quick seven to three lead in game one in the first three innings of play. The Wolves tryed to battle back but came up short only scoring one run in the last four innings.

Justin Downes and Wes Fisbeck each went two for four in the game with Fisbeck driving in two RBI's to lead the Wolves. Rhett Gunderson finished up his season on the hill giving up eight runs on eight hits. Charlie Woida finished up the game strong allowing only one hit is his three innings pitched.

Game 1 Stats

In game two the Beavers again jumped off to a lead in the first inning, three to one. In the third inning Wes Fisbeck crushed a grand slam over the center field wall to give the Wolves a five to three lead. The Wolves never looked back scoring two more insurance runs in the sixth to seal the game.

Wes Fisbeck, Justin Downs, and Benji Kieffer all went two for three on the game with Wes Fisbeck leading the way again in RBI's with four.

Matt Paulson started and finished the game strong allowing only five runs on eight hits to further his record to four and six on the year.

The Wolves finish the season 17-26 overall and 10-16 in the NSIC. The Beavers finished at 14-34 overall and 11-17 in the NSIC.
