Benji Kieffer Knocked in the Game Winning Run in Game Two

Aberdeen , S.D. - Northern State makes it four in a row as they sweep the University of Mary 7-2 and 5-4. The Wolves combined solid pitching with key offensive hits to pick up the wins and improve to 16-17 overall on the season.

The Wolves used five first inning hits to score five runs on their way to a 7-2 win in game one. Matt Paulson picked up his third win of the season as he went four innings giving up two runs on five hits. He struck out eight and walked only one of the 18 batters he faced.

Jeff Demarco went 1 for 2 with two RBIs and a sac fly. Wes Fisbeck and Adam Kampsen both went 1 for 2 with two runs scored and an RBI.

Rhett Gunderson finished the final three innings out as he gave up no runs on two hits, stuck out and walked one of the 11 batters he faced.

In game two Mary scored a run in the second and third innings, then added another two in the third to lead four two after four. The Wolves knotted the game at four in the bottom of the fifth after a pair of walks and a double steal put runners on second and third. BenjiKieffer scored on a wild pitch, then JoelBackous singled to center field to score ValdieMagstadt to tie the game.

In the bottom of the sixth Charlie Woida singled with one out. Mike Murdy walked, before Benji Kieffer smacked a two out single to left to score Woida and put the Wolves up 5-4. For the game Kieffer was 2 for 3 with an RBI and a run scored.

Wes Fisbeck pitched the final three innings of the game and look solid as he retired the first three batters he faced in the fifth, and the final three batters of the game in the seventh, including a strike out to end the game. For the game Fisbeck pitched three innings giving up no runs on one hit. He stuck out three of the ten batters he faced.
