The Wolves had eleven seniors play in their final game at NSU. Mike Murdy (Aberdeen, SD), Joel Backous (Aberdeen, SD), Benji Kieffer (Morris, MN), Charlie Woida (Eagle Bend, MN), Ben Cupp (Rapid City, SD), Joe Dinger (Aberdeen, SD), Matt Paulson (Milbank, SD), Rhett Gunderson (Richfield, MN), JeffDemarco (London, Ontario), Wes Fisbeck (Loveland, CO), Jared Olson (Medicine Hat, Canada).
Northern State came to life in the bottom of the seventh inning of game one. After surrendering a pair of runs in the top of the first and second seniors Rhett Gunderson and Joe Dinger held the Golden Bears scoreless. The Wolves scored five unanswered runs, one in the second, two in the fourth and two in the seventh. The NSU seniors started the rally in the seventh as Woida and Backous singled to left field, then Fisbeck singled to pitcher on a bunt. Freshman Adam Kampsen reached on an error by shortstop scoring Woida. Demarco then singled scoring Backous to win the game. Demarco finished the game 3 for 4 with three RBIs.
Both teams had their opportunities as Concordia left 11 runners on base and the Wolves left ten. Joe Dinger (5-1) pitched the top of the seventh inning to pick up the win. Rhett Gunderson had a shaky first two innings, but settled in to give up four runs (three earned) on ten hits over six innings.
The Wolves again scored a pair of runs in the bottom of the seventh inning, but this time they were down more than just a run. The Wolves were only able to muster two hits in the second game. Jarod Olson got the start and went 2 2/3 innings giving up seven runs (four earned) on six hits. Matt Paulson came in for 1 1/3 innings and gave up only one hit. Matt Reich came in the final three innings and gave up one run on six hits.
