Wolves Split With Mary

Bismarck, N.D. - Northern State (6-26, 0-8 NSIC) split with the University of Mary (12-21) losing game one 4-2 and winning the night cap 4-1. The win ends a five game losing streak as they pick up their sixth win of the season. The Wolves are now 2-9 in non-conference road games this season.

Mary came from behind in game one, using a four run fifth inning to knock off the Wolves. Mary used two 2-run homers to take a 4-1 lead, before the Wolves scored their final run in the top of the sixth.

Mike Paulson took the loss as he went five innings giving up four runs on six hits.

The Wolves countered with the long ball in game two to end a six game losing streak. Matt Sisk got the Wolves on the board with a solo shot in the top of the fourth inning making it a 1-0 game. Mary countered with an unearned run in the bottom of the fourth to tie the game at one. Paul Gerrish went four innings for the Wolves giving up one run on two hits.

The Wolves took the lead in the top of the sixth when Mike Paulson knocked a three run blast to make it 4-1. Adam Kampsen came in the final three innings, picking up his first win of the season, as he did not allow a hit while striking out four of the ten batters he faced.
