Marshall, Minn. - Northern State lost another pair of games to SW Minnesota State as the Mustangs completed the four game sweep of the Wolves. Northern State is now 6-30 overall and 0-12 in the NSIC while the Mustangs improve to 17-24 and 9-5 in the NSIC.

The Wolves found themselves down 8-0 after four innings in game one before they mounted a five run seventh inning, but fell short, losing 8-5. Adam Kampsen belted his ninth home run of the season to start the seventh then Justin Downes belted his fifth dinger of the season right after Kampsen. Downes also had a double in the game.

Paul Gerrish went all six innings for the Wolves giving up eight runs (three earned) on 11 hits. He struck out four and walked one of the 32 batters he faced. SW Minnesota State’s Aaron Lindstrom recorded a career high eight strike outs as he went six innings giving up two runs on four hits.

SW Minnesota State’s Josh Heuy broke up a 5-5 tie with a two run single in the sixth inning as the Mustangs got the season sweep of the Wolves with a 10-6 win in the night cap of day two of the four game series.

Northern State’s Justin Downes went 4 for 4 with two home runs. Downes had a monster weekend at the plate as he had four home runs and nine RBI while scoring six times. Downes now as seven homers on the season. Adam Kampsen also hit a homer in the second game as he now totals ten dingers on the season.

Matt Reich went six innings giving up ten runs (nine earned) on 14 hits. Reich struggled in the late innings as he gave up five runs on seven hits in the sixth inning.

The Wolves host Mayville State on Tuesday, April 25 th at 2:00 p.m. in twinball action.
