Northern State never recovered from a 17-2 run in the first half by North Dakota and fell to the Sioux 81-72 Saturday night in Grand Forks.
NSU outrebounded UND 49-33, but shot barely 40 percent from the field as a team. UND's Hunter Berg helped ice the game late by going seven-for-eight from the line in the last two minutes of the game. He finished 12-of-13 from the stripe and scored 18 points in all. Chad Mustard netted 19 in the win.
Sophomore guard Jared Miller (Mitchell, S.D.) also scored 19 and added five assists and nine rebounds to lead the Wolves. Senior forward Kyle Johnson (Coon Rapids, Minn.) and freshman center Brad Hansen (Tea, S.D.) also grabbed nine boards. Junior point guard Scott Hanson (Tolna, N.D.) added 16 points and six boards in the loss.
