North Dakota State's Gary Hall and Danny English both had career nights to lead the Bison over Northern State 81-67 in Aberdeen Saturday night.
Hall, the team's point guard, scored a career-high 30 points, while forward English also netted a career-best with 24. Junior guard Jared Miller (Mitchell) led the Wolves with a team season-high 27 points. The Bison looked like the team on their home court to open the game, shooting a scorching 56 percent in the first stanza to grab a 42-36 halftime edge.
But the Wolves' shooting woes wouldn't get better the second half. NSU shot 36 just percent for the game. NDSU led by as many as 19 in the second half. NSU's most substantial run was capped by a 3-pointer from senior forward Dan Fischer (Bagley, Minn.) that cut the margin to nine points with eight minutes remaining. But NDSU answered NSU's 9-1 run by scoring the next six points and resumed the comfortable double-digit cushion.
Junior post Ben Dahl (Cottonwood, Minn.) scored 13 points and grabbed a team-high eight rebounds for NSU.
