Wayne State Hits Three at Buzzer to Drop Wolves
WAYNE, Neb.–Wayne State ended an eight game losing streak to Northern State as Dusty Smith hit a three pointer at the end of regulation to get the 80-77 win over Northern State. The Wolves led over 38 minutes of the game, but a late rush by the Wildcats game them the win and a home playoff game next Wednesday.
Wayne State erased a seven-point halftime lead as the Wolves suffer only their second loss after leading at the half this year. The Wolves had five players in double figure while the Wildcats had only three. Rebounds in the game were equal and turnovers were nine for the Wolves and eight for the Wildcats.
The Wolves also outscored the Wildcats 36-16 in points in the paint, but the Wolves last field goal was at 4:19 left in the game. A pair of free throws was the only Wolves scoring in the last four minutes of the game.
