Northern State Defeats Concordia Moorhead in Exhibition
Aberdeen, S.D. – Northern State had four players in double figures as they knocked of Concordia Moorhead 98-70 in an exhibition game at the Barnett Center. The Wolves outscored the Cobbers 44 to 18 in points in the paint and 20 to 3 in second chance points.
The Cobbers kept it close early as they were red hot from the field, hitting 75% from the floor early in the game. But the Wolves would battle their way to a 51-41 halftime score.
The second half was all Northern State as they outscored Concordia 47-29.
Leading scorer for the Wolves was Matt Hammer, with 16 points on 6 of 10 shooting. Dan DeWitt had a solid game as he went 5 of 9 from the floor and 3 of 5 from three point range for 15 points. Bjoern Schoo was a perfect 5 of 5 from the floor for 11 points while Craig Nelson was 4 of 6 for 11 points as well.
Concordia was led by Mark Dixon’s 16 points and Keith Eckhoff’s 13. Eckhoff was a perfect 4 of 4 to start the game, but missed hit next nine shots to finish 4 of 13 on the night.
The Wolves open the regular season at home on Tuesday, November 15 th when Dakota Wesleyan comes to town for an 8:00 p.m. tip off.
