Aberdeen, S.D. - Don Meyer and the Wolves got the best of former NSU player and assistant Paul Sather as Northern State (3-0, 0-0) defeated Black Hills State (2-4, 0-0) 80-58 at the Barnett Center Sunday afternoon. NSU’s Aaron Busack (Sr., C, Redwood Falls, Minn.) became the 20 th all-time leading scorer in the history of NSU as he notched 20 points as he now has amassed 1,249 points in his career.

Matt Hammer (Sr., F, Elkton, S.D.) didn’t have a great night shooting as he was 5 of 12 from the field, but still finished with 11 points, four assists and four rebounds. CraigNelson (R-So., G, Mayville, N.D.) hit three from long range to finish with nine points.

Leading scorer for the Yellow jackets was JJ White with 20 points on 8 of 15 shooting.

The Wolves shot 50% (30-59) from the field and 44.4% (8-18) from three point range while the Yellow jackets were 37.7% (23-61) from the field and 4 of 20 (20%) from long range. The Wolves also out rebounded the Yellow jackets 40 to 30, but were out done on the offensive end 12 to 11.

The Wolves remain at home as they will host the University of Mary on Tuesday, November 22 nd at 8:00 p.m. at the Barnett Center.

 

 

Aberdeen, S.D. - If any coaching staff in the nation is going to know Coach Meyer and his philosophies it will be Black Hills State. For the first time in Don Meyer’s 34 years of coaching he will be taking on a former assistant coach and a former player in the same game. When Black Hills State comes to Aberdeen it will be a homecoming for two former NSU alums. BHSU’s head coach Paul Sather excelled in basketball at NSU and was an assistant coach their for six years while BHSU assistant coach Steve Smiley was a standout point guard for the Wolves from 1999-2004.
