Wolves Finish Off Non-Conference Season 10-1

Aberdeen, S.D. - #21 Northern State (10-1, 0-0 NSIC) cruised past Jamestown College (6-10, 3-2 DAC-10) in a 92-74 non-conference match-up. NSU head coach Don Meyer picked up his 824 th win, which moves him into sole possession of 7 th place on the all-time wins list. NSU center Aaron Busack moved to number 17 all-time in scoring at NSU with his 12 points as he now holds 1,358 total points.

The Wolves opened the game on a 9-0 run over the first three minutes of the game and cruised from there. The Jimmies were able to cut the led to eight in the first half, but found themselves down 48-28 at the break. The Wolves kept the lead in the high teens or low twenties the rest of the half as they finish out their non-conference season with a 10-1 mark.

The Wolves were clicking in all facets of the game. They ran the court well as they scored 20 fast break points and also got the ball in low as they outscored the Jimmies 40 to 12 in points in the paint. The Wolves were out rebounded in the game 29 to 26, but the Wolves had 13 offensive boards that led to 21 second chance points. The Wolves also forced 27 Jimmie turnovers that led to 35 points.

Matt Hammer (Sr., F, Elkton, S.D.) led the Wolves with 17 points and seven assists. Bjoern Schoo (Sr., C, Germany) had 16 points and a team high six rebounds. Busack (Sr., Redwood Falls, Minn.) had 12 while Adam Grant (Sr., F, Berthold, N.D.) had 11. Kevin Ratzsch (R-Fr., F, Bloomington, Ill.) rounded out the Wolves in double figures with his career high ten points.

The Jimmies were led by Jake Holen’s 22 points. Kyle Iverson had ten points and 13 rebounds as well for the Jimmies.

Northern State opens up NSIC play this weekend on the road at Wayne State and SW Minnesota State. Both games are set for 8:00 p.m. on Friday and Saturday night.
