Wolves Win Third This Season Against Upper Iowa

Aberdeen, S.D. – #12 Northern State (19-2, 7-1 NSIC) used a balanced offensive attack to down Upper Iowa (2-24) 76-57 in front of 2,345 fans at Barnett Center. The Wolves had four players in double figures while the Peacocks had only one.

Aaron Busack (Sr., C, Redwood Falls, Minn.) collected a quiet double double as he scored 11 points and grabbed ten rebounds in only 15 minutes of play. Craig Nelson (R-So., G, Mayville, N.D.) led the Wolves with 14 point as he was 6-of-6 from the free throw line (four free throws came from two technical fouls called on the Peacocks).

Matt Hammer (Sr., F, Elkton, S.D.) had another good all around game as he scored 13, grabbed seven boards, dished out five assists and swiped three steals in 28 minutes of play. Kevin Ratzsch (So., F, Bloomington, Ill.) was the other Wolf in double figures with his ten points from off the bench.

Upper Iowa was paced by Marcus Uhlenhopp’s 19 points. Uhlenhopp was 7-of-9 from the field and 5-of-6 from three-point range.

The Wolves were 23-of-38 from the free throw line while the Peacocks were only 5-of-9.

Wolves had 19 turnovers compared to 21 by the Peacocks, but the Wolves scored 26 points off turnovers.

Northern State stays home this weekend to host Concordia St. Paul and #13 Winona State. Both games set for 8:00 p.m. at the Barnett Center.
