ABERDEEN,
S.D. - Northern State University's softball program has signed
Waconia High School pitcher Lisa Koehler and Central Lakes
College (Brainerd, Minn.) outfielder Cassey Veith National
Letters of Intent. Than announcement was made today by head
softball coach Paula Krueger.
The recruits
join St. Charles High School (Minn.) all-state catcher Kate
Peterson on Krueger's recruiting list thus far.
Koehler
is a two-time all-state pitcher for Waconia. As a senior,
she had a .53 ERA, fanned over 200 batters, piled up 13 no-hitters
and 26 shutouts while crossing over the plate to bat over
.500.
"We are
excited to add someone of Lisa's caliber to our roster," Krueger
said. "She brings a strong presence to the mound, and has
the ability to play other positions. Her strong bat makes
her a complete player. We look to a strong future with Lisa
added to the roster."
Veith
was a top player for one of the top junior college teams in
Minnesota last season.
"Cassey
brings a left-handed bat to our lineup," Krueger said. "She
has the ability to slap opposite field or pull the ball hard
- a tough combination to defend. She also brings experience
to our outfield and comes from a winning junior college program.
She adds many intangibles to our team, and should help us
turn the corner."
