Wolves Drop Pair to MSU Moorhead in NSIC Opener

ABERDEEN,
S.D. - It was a game of missed opportunities for the Wolves in game
one as they fell to MSUM 8-2 in both teams NSIC opener.
The Wolves left at least one runner on base through
the first six innings of playing, including the bases loaded in
the first inning. They left a total of 12 runners on throughout
the game.
The Wolves totaled 11 hits in game one, compared to
MSUM's 13, but the Dragons only left six runner on base.
Lisa Koehler (0-7) pitched the entire game while holding
the Dragons scoreless the first three innings. On the day Koehler
gave up eight runs on 13 hits, struck out four and did not walk
any of the 35 batters faced.

The Wolves again had their chances in game two as
they had runners in scoring position in a tie game in the bottom
of the seventh inning, but were unable to get the winner run to
cross home plate. The Wolves gave up six runs in the top of the
eighth innings to fall 9-3 in game two.
The Wolves left twelve runners on base for the second
game in a row as they could not get a rally going throughout the
day.
The Wolves had an early 1-0 lead but a three run fifth
for the Dragons gave them a two run advantage. The Wolves were able
to battle back to score a run in the bottom of the sixth and seventh
innings to tie the game at three, but left the bases loaded in the
sixth and two runners on in the seventh.
Christie
Bronte (pictured left) had a solid day at the plate as she had two
hits in each game including a double in game two.
Christie Schulte (1-4) pitched all eight innings for
the Wolves giving up nine runs on 17 hits. Six of those runs and
six of those hits came in the top of the eighth inning. She struck
out four and walked three on the day.
The Wolves now drop to 1-13 overall and 0-2 in the
NSIC. The Dragons improve to 9-5 overall and 2-0 in the NSIC.
The Wolves travel to Wayne, NE for the NSIC Crossover
on April 3rd and 4th.
