Wolves Lose a Pair to NSIC Top Team SW Minnesota State

ABERDEEN, SD - After putting together a two game win streak the Wolves drop a pair of games to NSIC leading SW Minnesota. The Wolves dropped game one 7-2, and were shutout 6-0 in game two at Moccasin Creek Softball Complex.Angie Olson @ 2nd Base

The Wolves were out hit in game one 11-6 add that with the fact that the Wolves had no more than one hit in an inning and that spell trouble.

Sara Lipetzky went 2-3 on the day, knocking in a run and scoring once from her DH spot.

Christi Schulte (4-11) threw all seven innings for the Wolves giving up seven runs (only four earned) on 11 hits. Schulte did strike out six and walk only one of the 35 batters she faced.

Game 1 Stats

The Wolves dug themselves a hole in the top of the first inning of game two as they gave up a pair of unearned runs, off of two Wolves errors. That is all the runs the Mustangs would need as their pitching shut down the Wolves holding them to just four hits in the game.

Koehler, LisaLisa Koehler (1-13) (pictured left) pitched all seven innings for the Wolves giving up six runs (four earned) on ten hits. She struck out and walked one of the 34 batters she faced.

The Mustangs scored a pair of runs in the first, fifth and sixth inning to come away with the 6-0 win and improve to 17-25 overall and a league best 12-2 record.

The Wolves fall to 5-29 overall on the season and 4-12 in the NSIC. They have one non-conference game at Mayville State on April 29th before heading to the NSIC Tournament in Moorhead, MN on April 30th and May 1st.
