Wolves Split with Wildcats

ABERDEEN, S.D. - The Wolves won their first NSIC home game of the year with a 2-1 squeaker over Wayne State.

The Wolves took the lead on a Christie Bronte solo home run leading off the bottom of the sixth inning. Wayne threatened in the top of the seventh inning as they loaded the bases on a walk, a single and a fielder's choice.

The Wolves countered the Wildcat attack as they forced a pair of out to second base to get the win.

Christie Schulte picked a gem of a game giving up only one run on four hits. Her only trouble came in the form of walks as she gave up five in the game. Schulte balanced the walks out as she stuck out five of the 31 batters she faced.

Game 1 Stats

The Wolves owned an early 3-1 lead in game two, but the Wildcats scored three runs in the final three innings to get the 4-3 win.

The Wolves gave up two runs in the top of the fifth and one in the seventh as they fell to 3-17 overall and 2-6 in the NSIC.

Lisa Keohler pitched all seven innings, giving up four runs on nine hits.

Both teams left eight runners on base in game two.
