ABERDEEN, S.D. –Northern State erupted for 21 runs on 29 hits as they downed Mount Marty 10-1 (6) and 11-2 (5) in non-conference play. The Wolves improve to 6-10 overall after winning six of their last seven games. Mount Marty falls to 8-19 on the season.
Game one saw the Wolves score three runs in the bottom of the second, third and sixth innings and a single run in the fifth to end the game after six innings. The Wolves had two players homer in the game. Lisa Koehler hit her third career home run in the bottom of the third inning, knocking in three runs. She finished game one 3 for 3 with three RBIs and two runs scored. Caitlin Hodges smacked her first career homer to lead off a rally in the bottom of the sixth as well.
Koehler also picked up her third win in a row as she went six innings giving up no earned runs on five hits. She struck out two and walked one of the 24 batters she faced.
In game two the Wolves offense continued to produce runs. The Wolves took advantage of two Lancer errors in the bottom of the fourth to blow open the game as they lead 11-2. The Wolves scored a run in the first, then two in the second in third before erupting in the fourth. Jenna Drey hit her first career grand slam in the fourth and she went 2 for 3 with five RBIs and a run scored.
Audrey Decker picked up her third win of the season as she went five innings giving up two runs on five hits. She did struggle with her control as she walked six of the 27 batters she faced.
