Wolves Swept by Dragons

Aberdeen, S.D. - The Northern State Wolves (11-23, 2-6 NSIC) were unable to get on track as the MSU Moorhead Dragons (19-9, 4-4 NSIC) swept the Wolves in a double header 9-5 and 4-2 in NSIC action. Northern State has now lost nine games in a row.

In game one the Wolves took an early 4-0 led off of a Heather Olson double which cleared the bases. Unfortunately the Wolves were unable to hold on as the Dragons scored three runs in the second and third innings and two in the fourth to take control of the game.

Lisa Koehler (Sr., P. Waconia, Minn.) pitched all seven innings giving up eight earned runs and thirteen hits. With the loss Koehler fell to 6-9 on the year. Offensively the Wolves were led by Caitlin Hodges (Jr., OF, Hartford, S.D.) who went 2 for 3 at the plate with a home run. Zomarie Lozano (Jr., SS., Juncos, Puerto Rico) also had two hits in the game as she went 2 for 4 at the plate.

The Dragons were led by Julie Vancura as she went seven innings striking out six in win. Vancura improved to 8-3 on the year. Offensively they were led by Melissa Saylor as she went 3 for 4 at the plate with one run scored and one RBI.

In game two it was quite the pitchers dual between Christie Schulte (Jr., P., Sioux Falls, S.D.) for the Wolves and Amy Losselyong for the Dragons. Schulte went all seven innings giving up eight hits, four runs and striking out four in the loss. Schulte fell to 2-9 on the year. Losselyong also went the complete seven innings giving up six hits, two runs, and striking out seven in the win. Losselyong improved her record to 7-4 with the win.

Offensively the Wolves were led by Zomarie Lozano as she went 2 for 3 in the game with a run scored and a run batted in.

The Dragons were led by Shauna Swavee as she went 2 for 3 in the game with two RBI's. With the sweep the Dragons improve their record to 4-0 against the Wolves this year.

The Wolves will be off until April 18th when they travel to Bismarck, N.D. to take on the University of Mary in a double header. Game times are set for 2:00 and 4:00 pm.
