Wolves Get Split with Beavers
BEMIDJI , Minn. - The Wolves (12-24, 3-7 NSIC) get back on the right track as they get a split against the Beavers of Bemidji State (13-14, 2-7 NSIC). The score of game one was 3-2 and the score of game two was 4-10.
In game one the Wolves got a great pitching performance for Lisa Koehler (Sr., P., Waconia, Minn.). Koehler went all seven innings giving up seven hits and two runs while striking out six. With the win Koehler improves to 7-9 on the year.
Offensively the Wolves were led by Luciola Figueroa (Sr., C., Puerto Rico) who went 2 for 3 with an RBI. Koehler also had a good game at the plate as she went 2 for 2.
The Beavers were led by Smith who went 3 for 3 from the plate with one run scored in the game. Potter went seven innings giving up seven hits and three runs, while striking out seven in the game.
In game two the Beavers scored two runs in the first and fourth innings and six in the sixth inning to defeat the Wolves by a score of 10-4.
The Wolves were led by Zomarie Lozano (Jr., SS., Puerto Rico) as she went 2 for 4 from the plate with a run scored. Christi Schulte (Jr., P., Sioux Falls, S.D.) went 5 1/3 innings giving up eight runs three earned and striking out nine. With the loss Schulte fell to 2-10 on the year.
The Beavers were led by Docken who went 2 for 3 with an RBI and two runs scored. Smith also had another good game as she went 2 for 4 at the plate with three RBI's. The Beavers got a strong pitching performance from Willard as she went seven innings giving up seven hits and three earned runs. Willard improved her record to 6-3 on the year with the win.
The Wolves will be in action again on Saturday April 22nd as they play Concordia St. Paul and SW Minnesota State in the first day of an NSIC crossover held in Bemidji, Minn. The games will be played at 12:00 pm and 4:00 pm. |
