Wolves Dominate Cross Town Rival
Aberdeen, S.D. - The Northern State Wolves (16-32, 3-11) dominated the Presentation College Saints (8-24, 6-8 UMAC) 19-0 in game one and 12-4 in game two. The Wolves used 31 hits in the two games to get the sweep against the Saints.
The Wolves got 19 hits in game one to blow out the Saints 19-0. The Wolves used 5 Saint errors to go up 11-0 after three innings of play.
Offensively the Wolves got three hits a piece from Jessica Kozelsky (Fr., IN., Westchester, Ill.), Natile Simar (Fr., Turner, Ore.), and Heather Olson (Fr., IN., Rosemount, Minn.). Kozelsky went 3 for 4 with two RBI's and three runs scored. Simar went 3 for 3 with three RBI's and three runs scored and Olson went 3 for 4 with one run scored. The Wolves also got a home run from Zomarie Lozano (Jr., SS., Juncos, PR) in the win.
Lisa Koehler (Sr., P., Waconia, Minn.) picked up the shut out giving up three hits and striking out six. Koehler improved her record to 9-13 with the win.
Jen Bourdon pitched for the Saints giving up 14 earned runs on 19 hits and getting one strike out.
In game two the Wolves jumped out to an early 5-0 led in the first inning and never looked back as the won the game 12-4 in five innings.
The Wolves were led by Zomarie Lozano as she went 3 for 3 with two RBI's and two runs scored. Lisa Koehler went 2 for 3 in the game with 2 RBI's, 2 runs scored with a home run.
Christi Schulte (Jr., P., Sioux Falls, S.D.) went the complete five innings giving up six hits and four runs, while striking out six in the game. With the win Schulte improves her record to 4-14 on the year.
The Saints were led by Heather Bourdon as she went 2 for 2 in the game with 2 RBI's, and two runs scored. Bourdon also it a home run in the game.
The Wolves will be in action this Friday May 5th when they travel to Crookston, Minn. for the NSIC conference tournament. The Wolves will play Winona State in the first round at 10:00 am on the UMC Field.
