The Northern State University women's soccer team gave over 150 fans a glimpse of the excitement that is to come in Wolves' soccer by downing Bemidji State 4-1 in NSU's season opener at the NSU soccer facility Saturday.
Powered by junior Angie Trudeau's two goals and an aggressive style of play, the Wolves handed Bemidji its first loss of the season. The Beavers downed St. Scholastica 2-1 in their home opener Sept. 3.
The Beavers tied the game at 1-1 midway through the second half before NSU pulled away. The Wolves dominated most of the match, recording 30 shots on goal to BSU's eight. Sophomore striker Allison Audet and freshman Kristie Gordy put the match away with goals late in the second half. Freshman Rebecca Valdez was credited with two assists on the day.
The Wolves' next contest is Friday, September 11 at home against Minnesota-Morris. The match is slated to start at 2 p.m.
