Wolves Overwhelmed Panthers

Aberdeen, S.D. - The Northern State soccer team (3-2) used three first half goals to take care of the visiting York College Panthers (0-4-1) 4-0 on a windy day in Aberdeen, S.D. Along with the shutout the Wolves played stellar defense as they did not allow the Panthers to get a single shot off. Catherine Grace (So., GK., Littleton, Colo.) got her second win of the season as she improves to 2-0.

The Wolves were led by Laura Skog (Fr., D., Anoka, Minn.) as she had a goal and two assists on the afternoon. The first goal of the game came off the head of Maggie Madrid (So., D., Peteluma, Calif.) at the 9:54 mark of the first half. The goal marked the first of the season for Madrid. Skog assisted on the second goal of the game as she sent a nice pass to Melissa Gamble (Sr., F. Calgary, Alberta) for the goal. She also assisted on the third goal of the game as she fed Katherine Bronson (Fr., D., Spokane, Wash.) for her first goal of her career.

In the second half the Panthers cooled down the Wolves attack, but at the 87:16 mark of the game Skog would put the on the final touches as she put the Wolves up 4-0. The goal marked the first of her career. On the play she got an assist from Elizabeth Malatesta (Sr., MF., Cheyenne, Wyo.).
