Beavers Score Twice in Second Half to Defeat the Wolves

Bemidji, Minn. - The Northern State Wolves (9-5, 4-3 NSIC) trip up north started off on the wrong foot as the Beavers from Bemidji State (7-5-1, 3-2 NSIC) beat the Wolves 3-1. Despite outshooting the Beaves 16 to 5 in the game the Wolves were only able to put the one goal on the board.

The Wolves scored first in the game as Melissa Gamble scored and unassisted goal for her 8th goal on the year and the 46th of her career at the 23:48 mark. But not even a minute after Gamble's goal the Beavers would strike back as Kelly Hyvare scored her tenth goal on the season off on an assist from Megan Wallner. That was all the scoring in the first half as the score was tied 1-1 at halftime.

In the second half the Beavers got goals from Jessica Ploeger at the 51:39 mark and from Jamie Ford at the 79:48 mark. That is all the offense the Beavers would need as they went on for the conference victory.

With the loss the Wolves goal keep Theresa Alexander recored fell to 5-5 on the year. The Beavers goal keeper Kari Torgerson improved her recored to 7-4-1 on the year with the win.

The Wolves will be in Crookston, Minn. on Sunday October 8th to take on the Minnesota, Crookston Golden Eagles in a crucial conference game. The game is set for a 1:00 pm start.
