NSU Basketball Draws High Crowds

ABERDEEN, S.D. - The Northern State men's and women's basketball teams continued to draw some of the largest crowds in the NCAA Division II in 2006-07. Released by the NCAA, the NSU women's basketball team ranked third in the nation for average attendance, bringing in 2,402 fans to each home contest. The men's side ranked fourth in the nation with an average 3,160 fans per game.
The Wolves women's team was the only NSIC school to rank among the top ten attendance leaders in 2006-07. Winona State was the only other NSIC team on the men's side to rank among the top 15 in the nation. The defending national champions ranked second in attendance with an average of 3,377 fans. The NSIC was the third-ranked Division II league for men's average attendance in 2006-07, drawing a total of 201,880 fans to conference games (1,507 avg). The NSIC ranked fifth in the women's conference standings with an average of 619.
The Wolves have developed a rich history of high fan turnout and have been among the national attendance leaders for years. The men's team led the nation in 2005-06, while the women's team ranked second. Both teams ranked second in 2004-05. Additionally, this marks the eighth consecutive season that the women's team has finished in 11th place or higher in the national attendance polls.
