Northern State wasn't challenged in a 91-79 win at Minnesota-Crookston Saturday night. The win kept the Wolves perfect in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference at 4-0 and upped the team's overall mark to 8-4.
A night after scoring just four points but putting up a career-high nine assists, senior forward Memory Johannsen (Tolstoy) proved why this team could be dangerous this season after scoring a game-high 21 points. In NSU's 12 games this season, the team has produced five different game-high scorers and has always put up a balanced offensive attack to keep everyone guessing where the points will come on any given night.
Against Crookston, Johannsen was one of four players to hit double-digits
and one of 12 players to crack the scoring column, as the Wolves were able
to clear the bench with a comfortable lead in the second half. Freshman
guard Carin Rambow (Litchfield, Minn.) chipped in 14 points, while junior
point guard Holly Schaunaman (Leola) recorded 13 points to go with six
rebounds and a game-high seven assists. Senior post Jennifer Murphy (Aberdeen)
scored 10 points on 5-of-6 shooting and grabbed five boards in just 15
minutes of play. UMC (5-7, 2-2) was led by Tiffany Hasbrouck's 18 points.
