ABERDEEN,
S.D .-- Northern State women's basketball extended its home
winning streak to 18 games with a 60-53 win over Dakota Wesleyan
on Tuesday night.
Northern
fell behind early by as many as nine points at 18-9 before
they went on a 13-0 run to take the lead 22-18 with 4:48 to
play in the first. Northern closed out the half outscoring
the Tigers 23-3 in the final 9:36 of the period and took a
32-21 advantage into the locker room.
Northern
upped its lead to 17 points leading 40-23 2:22 into the second
but the Tigers came within ten midway through the period.
NSU
buit its lead back to 16 with 5:20 to play but the lead was
cut as low as four at 55-51 with 1:24 to go in the game but
Liza Sizer hit three free throws to expand the NSU lead to
seven, 58-51. Wesleyan hit a bucked with :49 to play but Northern
countered with two Carin Rambow free throws to end the game
winning 60-53.
--Northern's
Carin Rambow led all scorers with 22 points on the night.
Her 22 points breaks her old career high of 20 set against
Concordia last year. Rambow also led the team with five steals
on the night.
--Northern's
Shana Theobald posted a game high nine rebounds on the night.
That marks a career high for her breaking her old record of
eight against Winona State last season.
--Amanda
Mollman netted 13 points and 8 rebounds for the Wolves.
--There
were a total of 52 turnovers in the game. DWU committed 24
and the Wolves surrendered the ball 28 times.
--NSU
boosted its home winning streak to 18 games dating back to
January of 2001.
--Dakota
Wesleyan was led by 19 points from Randi Morgan.
--Northern
State will face Western Oregon on Friday night in the North
Dakota State Valley Imports Classic in Fargo, N.D.
