Northern Bounces Back With 59-43 Win Over Chadron State

FARGO, N.D .-- Northern State bounced back from a first round loss to Western Oregon on Friday night with a 59-43 victory over Chadron State (Neb.) on Saturday in the Valley Imports Classic in Fargo, N.D.

Northern never trailed in the ballgame as they jumped out to an 11-2 lead but let CSC back in it as they scored eight straight to make it 11-10 Wolves.

The Eagles tied the score at 12 and again at 14 but Northern pieced together a nice 13-0 run to bring its lead to 27-14 with 2:05 to go in the first. The Wolves hit two more baskets before the half to take a 31-16 lead into the half.

Northern remained hot early in the second, outscoring the Eagles 22-9 in the first 15 minutes of the period and took a 30 point lead at 55-25. Chadron finished the game with the edge and brought themselves back into the contest but NSU held on for the 59-43 win.

--Northern improves to 2-3 on the season.

--NSU's Shana Theobald was named to the Valley Imports Classic All-Tournament team with a 13 point, five rebound game on Saturday.

--Michelle Hanson hit double-figures for the Wolves with ten points.

--NSU held Chadron State to a 23.6 percent shooting percentage on the night.

--Krista Rambow led NSU on the glass pulling down six rebounds on the night.

--Northern will play at Augustana on Wednesday at 6 p.m.
