POSTS GUIDE WOLVES TO 64-54 WIN
Aberdeen,
SD - Northern State
junior Michelle Hanson connected for a career high 22 points and
pulled down a team high eight rebounds to guide the Wolves to a
4-0 start in NSIC play with a 64-54 victory over Wayne State Saturday
night in Aberdeen.
The
Wolves jumped out to a 15-6 lead with just over 12 minutes to play
in the first half but the Wildcats fought back cutting the lead
to 30-29 at the halftime break.
NSU
began the second half on a 10-2 run to go on top 40-31 but WSC crawled
back once again trailing by just one with 6:27 to play.
The
Wolves had one more run in them, however making an 11-3 run before
closing the game with their largest lead of the game at 64-54.
Besides
Hanson's 22 points, NSU's Carolin Becker and Amber Powell netted
13 each for the home team.
Even
without their leading rebounder, Amanda Mollman, in the lineup the
Wolves were still able to own the glass ripping down 39 rebounds
compared to Wayne State's 29. Hanson paced NSU with eight followed
closely by Gina Golberg and Becker with seven apiece.
Much
of Northern's success was attributed to its ball control committing
just nine turnovers in the ballgame.
Northern
State remains home for a Thursday night tilt with Minnesota-Duluth
in Wachs Arena. Tipoff is set for 6 p.m.
