Wolves Use A Pair of Runs to Win

Chadron, Neb. – Northern State started the 2004-05 season right as they down Chadron State 86-53. The Wolves had 14 different players score as they improved to 7-0 versus Chadron State in series history.

The Wolves started the game on a 12-0 run and held that lead until the Eagles went on an 8-0 run to bring them within two with 7:32 left in the first half. At that point Wolves Coach Curt Fredrickson called timeout, a move that changed the game. The Wolves came out of the timeout and went on a 12-0 run to bring their lead to 14. The Wolves extended their led to 19 by the half to lead 48-29.

In the second half the Wolves extend the lead as high as 34 with less than two minutes to go and went on to win by 33.

Leading scorer for the Wolves was SaraJensen (Jr., South Shore, S.D.) with 14 points on 4 of 6 shooting, including going 3 of 3 from downtown. Liza Sizer (Sr., Miller, S.D.) added 12 points and three boards while Miranda Boepple (So., Dickinson, N.D.) had 11 to go with five steals. Carolin Becker (So., Beulah, N.D.) was the other Wolf in double-figures with 10 points and a game high ten rebounds.

The Wolves out rebounded the Eagles 56-34 and forced 20 Eagle turnovers. The Wolves also out shot the Eagles 45.8% (33-72) to 30.3% (20-66) in the game.

The Wolves travel to Colorado to take on Colorado Christian and Colorado School of Mines this weekend.
