Wolves Hunt Down the Tigers

Aberdeen, SD- The Northern State Wolves (1-0, 0-0 NSIC) used an early 22-11 lead to defeat the Dakota Wesleyan Tigers (1-5, 0-0 GPAC) 75-53 in non-conference match-up.

The Wolves used runs of 9-1 and 14-4 to build a commanding 34-19 lead at halftime. The Wolves shot 42.6 (26-61) compared to the Tigers 27.3% (15-55) for the game. Noelle Hall led the Wolves with a double double as she had 17 points on 8-10 shooting and 11 rebounds. She also had 5 blocks and 2 steals on the evening. Miranda Boepple and Ali Chmielewski had 9 and 8 points respectively to help the Wolves win the opening game of the season.

In the game there was a total of 44 personal fouls called on the two teams and 45 turnovers. The Wolves had 25 personal fouls compared to the Tigers 19. On the turnover side Northern State had 22 and Dakota Wesleyan had 23.

Dakota Wesleyan was led by Kelly Haiar, Sarah Mortenson, and Nikki Johnston who all had 10 points in the game.

The Super 8 Northern Women’s Classic will be held in Wachs Arena on Friday November 18 and Saturday November 19. There will be two games on Friday as Wayne State (NE) plays Colorado School of Mines and 6:00 pm and The Wolves will play at 8:00 pm against Colorado Christian. On Saturday at 4:00 pm Wayne State (NE) will play Colorado Christian and at 6:00 pm the Wolves will play against Colorado School of Mines.
