Bemidji State Erase 20 Point First Half Lead in 79-76 Comeback Win
Beavers End 17 Game Losing Streak to Northern State

Bemidji, Minn. - Bemidji State (11-13, 4-7 NSIC) snapped a 17 game losing streak to Northern State (19-5, 8-3 NSIC) with a 79-76 come from behind win. Bemidji State trailed by 20 points with 9:01 left in the first half before making their comeback. Northern State took a school record 39 three pointers in the loss.

Bemidji State’s last win over Northern State in women’s basketball was on January 10, 1998 when the Beavers pulled out an 80-76 win.

Northern State could not miss to begin the game as the opened up a 31-11 lead with 9:01 left in the first half. Bemidji State made it a 16 point lead at 35-39 with 4:45 left to go in the half. The game changed dramatically at this point as the Wolves would not score a point the rest of the half. The Beavers went on a 10-0 run during the Wolves’ drought to make it a 35-29 game at intermission.

The Beavers pushed the ball in the second half and were as hot shooting as the Wolves were to start the game.

Bemidji State was 20-of-33 (61%) from the field in the second half as they out scored the Wolves 50-41. For the game the Beavers were 31-of-67 (46.3%) while the Wolves were 30-of-71 (42.3%) from the field. The Wolves finished the game 11-of-39 (28.2%) from three point range. The Wolves pervious record for three pointers attempted in a game was 36 against Minnesota, Morris in 2003.

Bemidji State had five players scored in double figures in the game. Northern State had four players in double figures.

Noelle Hall (So., C, Altura, Minn.) scored a game high 24 points on 11-of-15 shooting. She also had seven rebounds in her 33 minutes. Ali Chmielewski (Sr., F, Foley, Minn.) scored 13 points on 5-of-11 shooting and dished out nine assists in 32 minutes. MirandaBoepple (Jr., F, Dickinson, N.D.) scored 11 points and grabbed nine rebounds while Carolin Becker (Jr., F, Beulah, N.D.) scored 12 points, grabbed eight rebounds and had four assists in the loss.

Northern State takes on Minnesota, Crookston Saturday night at Lysaker Gym in Crookston, Minn. at 6:00 p.m
