It's Time For Hoops!

October 16, 2006
ABERDEEN, S.D. - It's that time of year again when whistles and squeaks from tennis shoes can be heard in Wachs Arena. Both the women's and men's basketball teams have officially started practice for the 2006-07 season.
The teams each held their first practice session of the season on Sunday, October 15, the official NCAA basketball start date. Both the men's and women's sides are looking to build upon successful seasons last year. Ironically, the teams both finished second in the NSIC last season with records of 11-3. The women posted an overall record of 25-7 and were sent home following a 58-90 loss to North Dakota in the Regional Semis. The men went 27-6 overall, advancing as far as the North Central Region Championship game, where they fell 86-96 to eventual NCAA DII Champion Winona State.
The Wolves' women will start their season with a series of games on the road, officially opening the regular seaosn at Dakota Wesleyan on November 15. They will play one home exhibition game against Presentation College on Thursday, November 9 at 7:00 pm. Their regular season and conference home opener will not take place until December 8, when they host Wayne State at 6:00 pm.
The men look forward to a series of home games early on, starting with Mayville State on November 11. The season will tip-off at 7:00 pm. They will play six total non-conference home games in the month of November before starting the NSIC schedule. The men will take the 8:00 game against Wayne State on December 8.
