Sophomore Dale Daugherty (Huron, S.D.) will compete in the NCAA II National Wrestling Championships after placing second in the Midwest Regional meet Saturday in Warrensburg, Mo.

Daugherty defeated Moorhead State's Dave Roberts and Central Missouri's Korak Simmons before falling to the No. 2-ranked wrestler in Division II, Central Oklahoma's Jeremiah Constant, in the regional championship match. Junior Jason Hulshof (Aberdeen, S.D.) placed fifth at heavyweight, while freshmen Nick Nihill (Buhl, Idaho) and Brent Babcock (North Branch, Minn.) each placed sixth at 157 and 184, respectively.

Daugherty is 17-14 on the season. After a successful freshman season in 1996-97, Daugherty received a medical hardship last season after he dislocated his elbow.
