NSU WRESTLING SIGNS THREE SOUTH DAKOTA GRAPPLERS April 23, 2003 ABERDEEN, S.D.: Northern State wrestling coach Patrick Timm has announced that three high school wrestlers have signed National Letters of Intent to continue their careers at Northern State University next fall. Following is a list of those wrestlers who have committed to Northern State:
Jason Orel Winner, S.D. - Orel was the 2003 State A runner-up at 152 pounds and the runner-up at 145 pounds in 2001 and 2002. Orel compiled a career record of 162-38 during his high school career and ranks second in Class A in career takedowns with 652. Orel helped Winner to the 2003 State Dual A team championship.
Andrew Sinclair Gregory, S.D. - Sinclair was a five-time State B qualifier and four time placewinner earning state championship honors in 2002 and 2003. He also earned runner-up honors in 2001 and a seventh place finish in 2000. Sinclair was named as his team MVP three times and was a two-time all-state and all-conference selection in football as well. Sinclair was also a member of the 2002 Disney Dual Wrestling Team.
Charles Welch Rapid City, S.D. - Welch was a three time all-conference selection and three-time State A place winner at Rapid City Stevens High School. Welch earned a fifth place finish in 2001, fourth in 2002 and second in 2003 in the State A Wrestling Meet. Welch was also a four time member of the academic all-conference team and was academic all-state in 2003. Welch also competed in cross country. I feel that this is a very talented group of incoming freshmen, commented NSU Head Wrestling Coach Patrick Timm. They were all well coached in high school which will help them adapt even faster at the college level. I believe that they will have a key role in the practice room as well as in competition. I look forward to coaching these young men.
