Wolves Corral Mustangs ABERDEEN, SD - Northern State defeated Southwest Minnesota State Wednesday night at Wachs Arena. The Wolves won by a score of 30-14 anchored by some strong performances.
One notable performance was provided by Freshmand Andy Sinclair. The Gregory, SD native bumped up a weight class and wrestled in the 184 lbs. division. Sinclair was 20-6 coming into the seson with the majority of his wins coming at the 174 lbs. division. Sinclair would overcome the weight class change easily and defeat SMSU's Greg Frank by a 11-3 margin. "Sinclair's win really helped set the tone for the rest of the night," commented Coach Pat Timm. With the win, Sinclair moved to 21-6 on the season.
In the final match-up of the night, Senior heavyweight Baron Blanchard defeated SMSU's Chris Abbott in convincing fashion. Blanchard pinned Abbott moving his season record to 17-2. The Kindred, ND native has been ranked in the top ten nationally all season. The Wolves will travel to the Buean Vista tournament this weekend for a dual tournament.
