Northern State Wrestling Signs Brandon Haman of Great Falls, MT

Brandon HamanNorthern State University Head Wrestling Coach Pat Timm has announced the signing of Brandon Haman of Great Falls, MT.

Haman has an array of achievements throughout his career at Great Falls High School.  He is a two time state champion (2002 & 2004) and a two time state runner-up (2001 & 2003) and holds a 129-11 record during his prep career.  He also is a three-time Jug Beck Rocky Mountain Classic champion and a two-time Billings Invitational champion.  He also gained All-American status with the Fila Cadet Nationals in 2002 & 2003 and won a Grand National championship.

At NSU Haman will wrestle at 125 or 133 weight.  He is interested in majoring in education.

“We are very excited to have Brandon join our program.  He has a lot of experience and success that will be very valuable to our team.  I feel he will be able to step in right away and contribute this next season,” commented Coach Timm.

Northern State Wrestling Signs Thomas Konechne

Thomas KonechueABERDEEN, SD - Northern State’s Wrestling Coach Pat Timm has announced the signing of Thomas Konechne of Kimball, SD. Konechne, who will wrestle at 141-149 weight at NSU, will join Richard (R.C.) Sisson of Buhl, ID as the newest recruits to the 2004-05 roster.

Konechne attended Kimball High School where he was a six-year letter winner in wrestling as well as team captain. As a junior he wrestled at 135 pounds and finished with a 40-7 record and third at the state tournament. He placed third in the state again as a senior at 140-pounds, finishing with a 39-6 record. Konechne participated in track and cross-country and was an all-state wide receiver in football his senior year to go along with his wrestling career.

Konechne is a member of the National Guard and will begin is collegiate career during spring semester. He is planning on majoring in biology with a minor in athletic training at NSU. He is the son of David and Barbara Konechne.

"I feel that Thomas will fit in well with the team we will have next season.  He is a very intelligent person on and off the wrestling mat which will help him adapt to college and the collegiate style of wrestling much faster. We feel that he will be able to contribute to the team as soon as gets in the room.  I am excited to see the impact he will have on our program in the next few years" commented coach Timm.

NSU Wrestling Signs Richard Sisson of Buhl, Idaho

Northern State University Head Wrestling Coach Pat Timm is proud to announce his first signing of the spring. Richard (R.C.) Sisson will join the Wolves to compete for the 149 pound spot in the line-up.

Sisson, a native of Buhl, ID, wrestled at 152 pounds his senior year. While at Buhl High School he compiled an impressive 129-28 win loss record in four years of wrestling at the varsity level. He placed fourth in state in 2003 and 2004 and earned First Team All-State Academic Award in 2003. He was also a team captain.

Sisson, a high football stand out as well, received the 2003-04 Athletic Leadership Award, which is given to an athlete who has shown the most leadership on and off the athletic field and for service and dedication to Buhl Schools and the community. He was also a USAA All-American Scholar and received the USAA National Leadership Merit Award during his time at Buhl High School.

Sisson was an 11 year member of the Buhl Badger Freestyle Wrestling Club, where he placed three times at the Western Regional.

Richard is the son of Terry and Mary Sisson and plans to major in business at Northern State.

“I feel that R.C. will be a great fit for our wrestling program. He has a lot of untapped potential that I think will make him a very competitive division II wrestler. We look for R.C. to step in and contribute right away as a freshman” said Coach Timm.
