Naasz Takes Third At DWU Open

MITCHELL, S.D. - Senior Todd Naasz took third place in the 197 weight class at the Dakota Wesleyan Open on November 10, 2007. He was the top finisher for the Wolves on the day. The Northern wrestling team hosts Dakota Wesleyan and Sioux Falls College on November 28 at 5:00 p.m. in Wachs Arena. Full Story

Grapplers Open Season

BROOKINGS, S.D. - In their first competition of the season, the Northern State wrestling team had two grapplers finish fourth and one finish fifth at the 2007 Warren Williamson/Daktronics Open, hosted by South Dakota State University. Full Story

NSU Ranked #19 In National Preseason Rankings

EDMOND, Okla. - The Northern State wrestling team received a #19 ranking in the NCAA Division II Wrestling Coaches' Association Preseason Poll, released Tuesday by the NCAA. Individually, Andy Sinclair (Sr., Gregory, S.D.) topped all NSIC wrestlers with a #3 ranking at the 174-lb. class. The Wolves open the 2007-08 season on November 3 at the South Dakota State Open. Wolves Picked Third In Pre-Season
Wrestling Poll

ST. PAUL, Minn. - The Northern State wrestling team was picked to finish third in the 2007-08 NSIC Wrestling Pre-Season Coaches Poll, released today by the Northern Sun Intercollegiate office. Defending NSIC Champion Upper Iowa was predicted to repeat in 2007-08 and MSU Moorhead narrowly edged out NSU for second place in the poll. Four NSU Grapplers Named In Regional Preseason Rankings

ABERDEEN, S.D. - The Northern State wrestling team had four members named to the 2007-08 North Regional Preseason Rankings, released October 11, 2007. Chas Welch is ranked fourth in the 125-lb class, Andy Sinclair is ranked first in the 174-lb class, Cale Cornemann is ranked third in the 184-lb class, and Todd Naasz is ranked second in the 197-lb class. As a team, Northern finished in a tie with MSU Moorhead for fourth place in the region. The Wolves open competition on November 3 at the South Dakota State Open. Full Release

Northern State Wrestling Signs Two More for 2007

ABERDEEN, S.D. - Northern State head wrestling Coach Patrick Timm has announced the signing of two more student-athletes to the 2007-08 team. James Marx (Webster, S.D.) and Christopher Hunt (Gilbert, Ariz.) are the newest members of the Northern State Wrestling team. Full Release

Wrestling Receives Academic Honors

ABERDEEN, S.D.- Senior Shawn Lewis (Tabor, SD) and Junior Todd Naasz (Mobridge, SD) have both been named NCAA Division II Academic All-Americans by the National Coaches Association.  Lewis attained a GPA of 3.06 and will graduate this May with a degree in Biology Education.  Naasz is majoring in Elementary Education and had a GPA of 3.12.  As a team, Northern had an overall GPA of 3.10, which was good enough to for an 11th place finish in the nation.
