Jerry Parkinson
Jerry
Parkinson was a two-time South Dakota Intercollegiate Conference
champion and a four-year starter for the Northern State wrestling
team during his career from 1972-76. Parkinson qualified for
the national tournament all four years collecting more than
22 wins in each year with the Wolves.
Parkinson
was selected as the team MVP in the 1974-75 season, earned the
“most dedicated” award in his junior and senior years and a
co-captain in 1975-76. He was listed as an “Outstanding College
Athlete of America” and was named to the all-time NSU wrestling
team in 1994.
Since
leaving NSU in 1976, Parkinson has coached at Lead High School
in 1977-78 where he guided his wrestling team to a 10-1 dual
record and a No. 8 ranking in the state. He then graduated first
in his class of 215 at the University of Iowa Law School and
is currently the Dean of the University of Wyoming Law School.
Jerry
and his wife of 22 years, Debra, have two children and live
in Larimie, Wyo.
