E-LEARNING CENTER FACILITIES

DDN Studio Classrooms
Northern State University has eleven Digital Dakota Network (DDN) video conference studio classrooms. The eleven rooms are equipped with VTel equipment, cameras, multimedia teaching podiums and tech support stations. Five studios are used exclusively for high school course delivery. Two studios in the Gerber School of Education are used to train undergraduate education majors and to deliver outreach activities to K-12 schools. Two large studios in the MeWaldt-Jensen building and one in the Williams library support the on-campus and distance delivery of undergraduate and graduate level e-learning courses.

Multimedia Production & Editing
The NSU TV studio and multimedia production and editing stations are state-of-the-art digital facilities used by undergraduate and graduate students and technology staff. These resources support multimedia production for channel 12 (the local educational station), the NSU Center for Statewide E-learning programs and a wide variety of student and faculty projects.

Smart Classrooms
Forty-two smart classrooms equipped with multimedia teaching podiums, LCD projection equipment, Internet connection and satellite feeds are found throughout campus. With these facilities, faculty and students integrate multimedia and Internet resources into their classroom activities and presentations.

Computer Labs
Northern State University has excellent computer resources for students available in both general use and discipline-specific computer rooms. The student to computer ratio is approximately 4 to 1, providing one of the highest levels of computer access in the nation. Both Macintosh and Windows platform labs are available.

Library
The newly remodeled Beulah Williams Library is a highlight of campus. The building seats 400 comfortably and includes Internet connections, group study rooms, multi-media study stations and extensive collections of books, journals and electronic resources. The library is part of the South Dakota Library Network and provides student access to a wide range of online resources including searchable electronic databases.
