NSU to Receive Endowment

Released April 11, 2008

Mary Ann Murray, Harriet Anderson Lee, Norma Baldridge and Mavis Horan

(ABERDEEN, SD) Todd Jordre, Executive Director of The Northern State University Foundation, is pleased to announce that the university has been named as the recipient of a one million dollar endowment in honor of former Northern State College employee Harriet Anderson Lee. Anderson Lee worked in the admissions office at Northern in the 1960s.

Anderson Lee, who was a firm believer in the opportunity that Northern State offered, was born and raised in Northeastern South Dakota. She and her first husband, Oscar Anderson made their home in Aberdeen. After Oscar’s passing, Anderson accepted the job at Northern where she developed a true affection for the students that she was working with. She passed away on Aug, 15, 2007.

“We are very grateful for the generosity of Harriet to Northern State,” said Todd Jordre, Executive Director NSU Foundation. This is a great example of the difference NSU makes not only on our students but also on faculty and staff that choose to impact students lives each and every day.”

The Anderson Lee endowment will be directed for scholarships to new and existing NSU students.
