Former Governor and Congressman to Address NSU Graduates
Commencement Ceremonies Begin at 10 a.m.

Released May 6, 2008

(ABERDEEN, SD) Northern State University will recognize 237 graduates at its commencement ceremony on Saturday, May 10. The ceremony will begin at 10 a.m. at the NSU Barnett Center. Former Governor and Congressman Bill Janklow will deliver the commencement address.

“The vision displayed by former Governor Janklow to wire South Dakota schools through the 1996 Connecting the Schools project, has made South Dakota a leader in technology and distance education,” said NSU President, Patrick Schloss. “Thanks to his leadership, Northern State University is now home to the Center for Statewide E-learning, developing and administrating the new technologies involved in distance education throughout South Dakota set in place by Governor Janklow.”

Janklow served as South Dakota's attorney general from 1975 to 1979. He was a four-term Governor of South Dakota and a member of the United States House of Representatives. Janklow was elected to statewide office six times and currently practices law in Sioux Falls.

“Governor Janklow has a passion for our state and our young people. His determination, and never give up attitude will provide an inspiring message to our graduates,” said Schloss. “We are honored to welcome him back to Northern State University.”
