| Description:
Ten graduate students in counseling further their experience while serving the concerns of students at the New Beginnings Center. Graduate students interview residential students to discover what current issues interest them and research and develop both individual and team presentations to respond to their concerns. Counseling students gain direct experience with clients, listening to them and their concerns, and feedback on how their presentation were received. |

Northern State University: Human Growth and Development |
| Description:
Forty-nine psychology students studying the various periods of the life span pair-up and partner with community members covering the spectrum of stages and situations in life, to learn about their diverse experiences and concerns. Students engaged in a wide variety of activities, including tutoring and valuable companionship, learning about and serving the unique needs of their community partners . The quality of in-class student discussion is enriched and enlivened as they bring their experiences and that of their community partners to bear on the respective theories and stages of life being studied. Double-entry journals kept throughout the semester-long project achieve an on-going reflective integration of traditional and experiential academic learning. |

Northern State University: College Health: A Peer Education Approach |
| Description:
Advanced psychology students have the opportunity to research, develop, market and assess the impact of presentations on health and social issues, incorporating effective experiential and interactive presentation methods. Issues are selected and knowledgeable presentations developed in response to the concerns and needs of the community groups served which include Central High School, the Native American Organization and NSU Residence Hall Programs. |
