Type of Service: Direct Service

Needs Met/Impact Made:

Thum was extremely positive about her interaction with and participation in the service-learning project.  She said it was a wonderful self-esteem building experience for her clients in that they had access to the sport facilities at NSU's Barnett Center.  Her clients felt like they made new friends and built relationships with people in the community.

"My people loved it," she said. "It was an opportunity to go out into the community and interact.  Visibility, meeting new people and trying new activities are some of our goals."  Thum is anxious to repeat the special education/adapted physical education project, and to try new ones.
