The Aberdeen University/Civic Orchestra (AUCS) has been in existence for more than 50 years. The orchestra performs two full orchestra concerts per season and 4-5 additional concerts. It has a membership of about 50 musicians. The Music Director is Robert Vodnoy, who brings thirty-two years of professional orchestral and opera conducting experience to the ensemble. The AUCS provides an exciting and rewarding experience to NSU students and community musicians who are interested in performing orchestral music.
Membership in the AUCS is through auditions which take place in September and January. Auditions for strings are for seating purposes. Auditions for winds/brass/percussion are for seating purposes and membership when interest exceeds available positions. Students may consult the syllabus for further information about the orchestral program at NSU. Students and community musicians are welcome and encouraged to contact Robert Vodnoy directly.
