Join the Excitement!
The Aberdeen University/Civic Symphony (AUCS)
has been in existence for more than 50 years. The orchestra performs three full
orchestra concerts per season plus additional concerts, and has a membership of
about 50 musicians. The Music Director is Dr. Robert Vodnoy, who brings
thirty-three years of professional orchestral conducting experience to the
Orchestra. The AUCS provides an exciting and rewarding experience to NSU
students and community musicians who are interested in performing great
orchestral music.
Membership in the AUCS is through auditions which take place
in September and January. Auditions for strings are for seating purposes.
Auditions for winds, brass, and percussion are for seating purposes and
membership when interest exceeds available positions. Students may consult the
syllabus for further information about the orchestral program at NSU. Students
and community musicians are welcome and encouraged to contact Robert Vodnoy
directly.
The Orchestra receives an Importation of Musicians Grant from
the South Dakota Arts Council.
