Geier Named Dean of School of Education

(Aberdeen, S.D.) President James Smith is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Constance Geier as the Dean of the School of Education, effective June 22, 2010.

“Connie is a truly experienced member of our faculty.  She has shown tremendous commitment to program development and program enhancement during her year as Interim Dean for the School of Education," said Smith. "I am very pleased that she has agreed to continue to lead this unit for years to come.  I look forward to a solid number of accomplishments that will certainly be realized during that time period.”
 
Geier received her undergraduate degrees from Northern State and her Ph.D. at the University of South Dakota. 

She has been a member of the NSU faculty since 1991 serving in a variety of leadership and educational roles. She has received numerous awards including Outstanding Doctorate Candidate and Alumni at USD and the NSU Outstanding Faculty member.

"Connie is very well respected and committed to current and former students who serve as educators in our region," added Smith. "Her positive attitude and dedication to positioning NSU as a leader and resource for all educators is evident and, in keeping, will allow us to better serve our region and our state."

Smith would also like to share his sincerest appreciation to the members of the search committee both from the Aberdeen and Northern community for their hard work and diligent service during this search.
