“La Festa Italiana: a Program of Favorite Italian Songs”

“La Festa Italiana: a Program of Favorite Italian Songs” (Aberdeen, S.D.)  The Northern State University department of music is pleased to announce a faculty recital on Thu, Oct. 1 at 7:30 p.m. in the Berggren Recital Hall in the NSU Johnson Fine Arts Center. “La Festa Italiana: a Program of Favorite Italian Songs” will feature Darci Bultema, soprano, Michael Skyles, tenor and William Wieland, piano.

Prior to the recital the NSU chapter of Sigma Alpha Iota will host a spaghetti dinner fund raiser from 5-7 p.m. in the choral rehearsal room of the Johnson Fine Arts Center. The cost is $5 and reservations are recommended. Call 605-690-3913 for reservations.

Bultema, a vocal soprano, is an assistant professor of music appreciation and opera at NSU. She holds a bachelor’s degree from North Dakota State University, a master’s and graduate performance diploma (G.P.D.) from the Peabody Conservatory of Music and a doctorate from North Dakota State University.

Michael Skyles, a vocal tenor, earned his bachelor's degree from the University of Illinois and his master's degree from The Cleveland Institute of Music. He is an instructor of music/applied voice at NSU.

William Wieland, professor of music at NSU, is the coordinator of the music and theater department, and a professor of theory, piano, technology and composition. He holds a bachelor’s degree from Valley City State College, a master’s degree from the University of Minnesota and his doctorate degree from Northwestern University.

There is no charge for the recital and the public is cordially invited to attend.
